Samples of different concretes are submerged in the sea at Calshot, near Southampton in the UK. They will be monitored for their capacity to be colonised by the native European flat oyster Ostrea edulis. The optimal concrete formula will inform the final concrete mix used to build the ecological enhancement units to be deployed in the spring next year.
